Grandad has a 1494 case IH w/ cab from 85, has what seems like a ground loss when powered? Went to start it recently, panel lights came on but then quit and cab acts like it has no power to anything. Blew the #1 fuse and looks like it partially melted the connector plastic of the green power supply wire at the the ignition cylinder - fuse is replaced and connector will be repaired. We get 12.8v at all terminals on the ignition switch when it’s keyed on but not cranking which doesn’t seem right but I guess could be a fried switch? What I really don’t understand though is that with the battery hooked up we totally lose a ground back to the battery and the cab frame becomes hot (live), but with the battery disconnected I get a very low resistance ground back to the battery from the same spot that was hot previously. I’ve never seen something like that happen so looking for a possible explanation on what might cause a behavior like that
