Safety Recalls
The recalled lawn tractors are green with yellow seats and mower decks. Model D100 tractors are included in this recall. The model number is located on both sides of the tractor's hood. Tractors with the serial numbers below are included in this recall. Known Issues
PTO shift level cable failure on LA100 tractor, resulting in inability to engage or disengage the PTO system.
Solenoid failure prevented the mower from starting via key ignition. Shorting the solenoid poles directly allowed the engine to start. Issue resolved by replacing the solenoid and cleaning electrical connectors.
E100 lawn mower transmission failed after 4 years and 71.5 hours of use. Customer requested compensation and questioned why a nationwide recall wasn't issued for defective sealed plastic transmissions.
I liked my John Deere at least the job it did and servicing it was a breeze, but believe it or not, if you don't have a minimum weight of at least well over 100 pounds you can't use the mower without wearing weights! After performing an oil change, the starter lacked sufficient torque to crank the engine. Original starter began smoking. Replacement starter exhibited the same issue. High resistance to manual flywheel rotation noted.
